Bullying, like autism, knows no bounds. People of all ages, races, genders and cultures are bullied.
Any teacher looking to combat bullying should start with the Teaching Tolerance documentary Bullied: A Student, a School and a Case That Made History. This free movie includes a viewers guide with great anti-bullying resources. For more information, go to the movie’s website.
Other Teaching Tolerance resources include the classroom activity “Bullying: Tips for Students.” It gives students advice on how to handle bullying situations. Pass it along!
Another useful activity is “Stand Up.” It reminds students that no one deserves to be bullied and that everyone has a responsibility to stop it. As a teacher, you can encourage your students to take a stand.
